The Regional Performing Arts and Conference Centre's got its new home in Gosford, during an extraordinary council meeting overnight.

Councillors have gone with staff's pick of the Broadwater Hotel site at 51 to 71 Mann Street (above) for the multimillion dollar development.

It's already secured about $30 million towards the project cost, in local, state and federal government funding.

Work will now begin on a detailed design on the 1-thousand seat complex, with about 450 car spaces to be included. Construction's expected to start in January next year and the venue will open in the second half of 2020.

While Gosford regional Library's set to go ahead as a standalone facility on Donnison Street, after Councillors chose it over another design option featuring commercial units.

Councillors heard the project will cost $27 million overall, while the rejected concept would have cost around $67 million.

ET Australia CEO Tony Mylan spoke in favour of Concept 2 before the local government cast its votes, given Concept 1 would displace them and the other not for profit organisations in the Parkside complex, which the Library will replace.

Council says it will provide office space for the organisations as part of the new Library.
