Southern Downs residents are being asked to proceed with caution when playing on fields that may have been flooded with sewerage.

The Southern Downs Regional Council suggests locals wait for another week before taking to the fields to ensure they have completely dried out.

The same advice is being given to driving on our roads and bridges, until they have been assessed.

Mayor Tracy Dobie says that recent down pour has caused a lot of damage:

“The main damage has been to rural roads, not just from the flooding of the Condamine River that broke its banks but as you can appreciate there was some very heavy, persistent rain throughout the day on Thursday and that has done a lot of damage to our rural dirt and gravel roads which will need to be repaired.”
