St. Kilda have confirmed their intentions to play more home-and-away games in Auckland in coming seasons.

Saints chief executive Matt Finnis flagged that the Saints could be playing in New Zealand as soon as next season.

"Certainly there is a lot of enthusiasm within Auckland to play AFL football from either late-2018 or certainly 2019, if they can secure the stadium reconfiguration that they're looking to receive," Finnis told AFL.com.au.

St. Kilda have played for premiership points in New Zealand previously between 2013-15.

AFL fixture boss Travis Auld has backed the Saints to get back to Auckland.

"We've obviously played a number of games in New Zealand and St Kilda football club have led that, we're looking at continuing that potentially in Auckland," he said.
