Cameron Smith has urged fellow NRL players to start using their brains after a horror off-season for the code. 

Speaking to Triple M Sydney's The Rush Hour with MG at the NRL season launch, Smith discussed the conversation he had with the Storm squad during the pre-season regarding off-field issues.

"They (Storm squad) are under no illusion as to what is expected of them by me, Craig Bellamy and the NRL," Smith said. 

"Our players need to know - And I'm not just talking about the Storm players - I'm talking about the guys involved in the entire competition.

"There needs to be some common sense here and we need to start using our brains when making decisions.

"Because if you stuff up it's going to cost you big time."

In an extended interview Smith also opened up on the season ahead, the 18-year-old Goliath who he is expecting big things from in 2019 plus much much more.
