The smell of snags sizzling and suncreen sliding onto skin is about to fill the air because Australia Day is this Saturday!
To celebrate our country, join us at Strand Park for a great day for the whole family to enjoy.
Snags won't be the only option this Saturday, with the addition of 'Great Australian Bites' to the festival fun.
The Great Australian Bites is an initiative that showcases and promotes regional produce, locally prepared food inspired by recipes across the globe, and local musical talent.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said Townsville is a diverse city and food is a fantastic way to bring the community together.
“Townsville is a very diverse city and we will be celebrating this with food and entertainment – Australia Day is really about coming together as a community and food is a great way to do this.
“Those attending the festivities will enjoy a smorgasbord of multicultural foods, performances by local talents, a kite display, beach games and a quintessentially Australian lamington eating competition.”
The festivities begin at 12pm at Strand Park with Minty on stage to take you through the arvo.
Make sure you visit the Triple M tent too while you're there to get your hand held Australian Flags raising funds for Give Me 5 For Kids and there'll be meat tray raffles too!
