La Trobe Achieves a Bronze Status

16 November 2017

Off the back of yesterday's landmark same-sex marriage postal survey results, La Trobe University is now among the 40 universities across the country who have taken part in Science in Australian Gender Equity (SAGE) Athena Swan's accreditation program.

Forty universities have the joined the pilot program.

La Trobe is now one of only two institutions that have committed to apply the accreditation program's principles of gender equity, diversity and inclusion of under represented groups across all disciplinary areas.

The University is spending this week acknowledging at the work staff and students have put in to make the facility a more inclusive place, highlighting pioneer projects and initiatives.

Earlier this year, La Trobe launched the Women's Academic Promotions Support program - directly addressing gender biases that were identified in data collected as part of the University's involvement in the SAGE scheme.
