The City of Kalgoorlie Boulder last night voted in favour of commencing the process of progressing with Sunday Trading.
A motion put forward to the City outlined total deregulation of shopping hours for the City and therefore marketplace would dictate the hours, however this was voted down 8 - 1. This would have had the prospect of 24/7 trading available to retailers.
In light of this motion - another motion was put forward to the City - which included Sunday Trading, the instigation of the process to enact this and for the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder CEO to create and present a report to council on the ways the City can support retailers. This motion was supported 7 - 2
Trading hours earmarked for Sundays would be 9am - 2pm.
