Look away now Broncos fans. Earlier in the week a theory was posited that Cameron Smith could possibly return home to Brisbane on a one-year contract and finish his career at Red Hill.

The veteran hooker, who this weekend will play his 423rd NRL game, is off-contract at the end of the 2020 season and the romantic in all of us love to see him go round one more time on the hallowed turf of Suncorp Stadium, mentoring the young Broncos group around the park while possibly transitioning into a coaching role.

However, this morning on The Big Breakfast NRL insider Dobbo put a pin in the hopes and dreams of the beleaguered Broncos fan base, telling Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody that this potential swansong for the Logan Brothers junior could just end up being a pipe dream.

There is no doubt that the that possibility of Smith leaving the Storm after arguably one of the most decorated careers in rugby league history is highly unlikely.

Then again, it was ‘highly unlikely’ that Wayne Bennett was going to leave the Broncos…watch this space.
