Superintendent of the Wagga Local Area Command Bob Noble says that people need to be careful this holiday season to ensure that their property and belongings are safe and sound.

Supt Noble says that if people are going away over the school holidays to make sure their houses are secure before they hit the road.

“Make sure your place is secure and that things are hard for thieves to get in and they’ll be encouraged to go somewhere else”.

He also suggested that if you have neighbours that you trust or let the local police know that you’re away to have them keep an eye on things, as well as keeping your holidays movements as private as possible.

“Don’t broadcast that you’re away to the entire community. ‘We’re all away on a beach in Tahiti’ can literally open the door for thieves so be mindful of that”.

Supt Noble also warned of the dangers that distracted drivers can pose on the roads and urged drivers to put their phones away if they’re hitting the road this Summer.

He spoke to Poppy and Leigh this morning about how to keep you, your family and your place safe this holiday season.
