Strong Start For Boomers As Defending Champs Lose In Round One

Eaton forward Jarrod Humphries put on a show at the Collie Rec Ground as the Boomers put away the Collie Eagles by 87 points in Round 1 of the Dale Alcock Homes South West Football League season.

Humphries piled on 10 goals, including four in the final quarter, as well as good performances from Kelvin Lawrence, Josh Bowe and Brandon Jetta.

The Boomers stormed away after half time, kicking 17 goals to 6 following the main change.

The big upset was at VC Mitchell Park, with Donnybrook falling at the first hurdle, losing to Carey Park by 21 points.

Jeffrey Carter bagged four goals, while Jaxon Bell and Brandon Yarran were the best for the Panthers.

Trailing by a goal at 3 Quarter Time, Carey Park kept the Dons scoreless while kicking 4 goals of their own to run over the top.

Despite some inaccurate kicking, the Augusta-Margaret River Hawks were too strong for South Bunbury, winning by 21 points.

New recruit Ricky Cary kicked 2 goals for the winning team.

Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault came from ten points down in the final quarter to beat an unlucky Busselton by 9 points at Bovell Park.

Taine Williams' haul of six goals among the best in the game.

While Bunbury asserted their dominance on the Harvey Bulls after half time, kicking 9.11 to just two behinds to win by 69 points.
