A drunk driver has led police on a short pursuit on the M1 at West Wallsend overnight.
Highway Patrol spotted the 39 year old's Lexus sedan allegedly travelling at 178km/h in a 110km/h zone just before 1:20am this morning.
It's claimed he failed to stop, triggering a police chase.
He pulled over on the George Booth Drive exit ramp and returned a positive breath test.
The man from Neutral Bay was taken to Toronto Police Station where he blew 0.109.
