Our state's Transport Minister, Andrew Constance says people need to be wearing their face masks amid Sydney’s covid outbreak.

It comes with the state government expected to extend the mask mandate beyond Wednesday.

Constance admitting we are in a dangerous period and now is not the time for complacency.

“I have to be honest, just even in the city last night I did observe quite a number of modes of public transport where people just didn’t have them on, and we need people to wear them. It’s in your own interest, your loved one's interest, your community interest, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a taxi, on an uber, on the major transport modes, that we see you put your mask on.”

Residents are being warned not to drop their guard as authorities deal with the Delta variant. Epidemiologist Professor Catherine Bennett has told Australia Today on the LiSTNR app it's highly contagious.

“What they’re seeing is someone who was within 10-50cm but what happens in this particular case, it looks like they followed in the footsteps of the case, and we’ve got someone who was very infections because we’ve seen multiple people infected in a similar way through that exposure period.”

The current Bondi cluster stands at 11, with further testing sites being opened across the city.
