Sydney has woken up to thick fog on Friday June 11, affecting drivers, ferries and flights.

Drivers are urged to take extreme care on the roads this morning and road conditions are considered dangerous.

The fog is also affecting ferry services, which are no longer running between Pyrmont and Cockatoo Island to Circular Quay. Paramatta River ferries are running at a reduced speed.

A Transport Management Centre spokesperson has urged drivers to take extra care.

"Do exercise caution, slow down and drive to the conditions. Some other good tips are to leave plenty of space between yourself and the car in front of you and turn your headlights on", they said

There are no major road closures and some flights are delayed.
