Two Sydneysiders have been spared a chilly night in thick bushland after becoming lost in Brisbane Water National Park overnight.

The brother and sister aged in their 20s set off on a marked trail near Girrakool Picnic Area in Kariong about 4:00PM yesterday before getting lost on a side track at dusk.

Thankfully, police, the dog squad and PolAir managed to find the pair uninjured in less than two hours, escorting them out of the rugged terrain and back to their command by 8:00PM.

Emergency services are using it as a timely reminder to plan our trips through the bush and always be prepared with survival gear.
