The Bureau has released its latest update on Tropical Cyclone Oma, and we appear to be escaping her wrath. She's expected to approach the Southern Queensland coast this weekend and all eyes are now on areas close to Brisbane. The Bureau has predicted Mackay will be unaffected, with the outlook merely showing possible showers Saturday. However, weather systems like this are unpredictable so it’s still advised residents keep up to date with all official warnings.

The dog at the centre of a social media frenzy is now in safe hands. A 5 year old Bull Arab Cross that was filmed being brutally bashed in North Mackay was seized by the RSPCA yesterday. A spokesperson said considering what he had been through he was lucky to have escaped without serious injury. The RSPCA are expecting the man who allegedly bashed him will be charged within the next twenty four hours.
