A woman is due in court at Beenleigh today, charged over the three-day torture of a teenage girl.

Police say they came across the badly injured 19 year old girl partly by chance on Wednesday night, after they were called to a property at Clearview Street, Waterford West on another matter.

On arrival, Detective Inspector Tod Reid says officers made the grim discovery.

"They attended the address and found a 40 year old female that they took into custody in relation to other matters. Whilst conducting inquiries at the residence, they've located a 19 year old female who was being held against her will in a bedroom," said Reid.

"She had been bound and had been there for a number of days and had injuries consistent with having been assaulted over the course of those few days."

The teenager was rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. It's alleged she had been held against her will from Monday morning, when she was taken to the house against her will.

"She'll be in a position to give us a statement later on today."

"She's safe... but she does have bruising, abrasions, lacerations and some burns to various parts of her torso and her face," said Reid.

Detective Inspector Reid says the two women were not alone at the time.

"There were other people in the property at the time and obviously we want to speak to them and find out their version of events. Part of the investigation will be to determine if there were other people involved, and if that's the case we will be looking to charge other people"

"Two of the people that were present were kids. We have got their welfare in mind, in terms of whether they were exposed to any of this offending."
