An elderly woman has been left with broken bones after an appalling incident in Singleton.

The 77-year-old woman was riding a mobility scooter along Primrose Lane at 8:15am on Saturday, when she passed a group of four young boys.

One of them pushed her off onto the road then ran away.

She was taken to Singleton Hospital then transferred to the John Hunter with a fractured cheekbone, a broken wrist and two broken ribs.

Hunter Valley Duty Officer, Inspector Joanne Schultz, is asking the community for assistance.

“Understandably, this lady is distressed by the incident – her family is extremely upset – and we believe the Singleton community will be horrified to think this has happened in their town,” she said.

The boys are believed to be aged around 12 or 13, with Police asking anyone who may have seen them to come forward.
