A teenage driver was allegedly drunk behind the wheel when his car smashed into a tree at Springbrook and burst into flames.

The 19-year-old from Currumbin was charged with drink driving, dangerous operation motor vehicle, assault in company and obstructing police.

While another 19-year-old from Coolangatta was charged with dangerous driving and assault in company.

The third man has yet to be charged, but police are still investigating.
