Two teenage girls have been hospitalised with serious injuries, after a car reversed into them at Westfield Tuggerah overnight.

Police have cuffed a Mardi man after he allegedly rammed his unregistered Mitsubishi Nimbus into a 14- and 18-year-old at high speed, as they packed groceries into their boot.

The 51-year-old's then accused of smashing into other parked vehicles, just after 5:30pm.

He's spent the night behind bars, to front Wyong court today on negligent and dangerous driving charges, with further ones expected to be laid pending drug and alcohol tests.

Both girls have spent the night with John Hunter Hospital. Paramedics say the 14 year old had a broken arm, while the 18 year old's undergone surgery on an injured pelvis.

Another woman in her forties was taken to Gosford Hospital with a fractured leg.
