Thank You for Making Chinchilla's Adopt a Street Tree Program a Blooming Success

Western Downs Regional Council would like to thank all residents who have adopted a 'Street Tree' and continue to take such great care of them, despite dry conditions across the region.

The Adopt a Street Tree Program encourages community participation to help beautify the region and make all our streets a little leafier.

Solitaire Court in Dalby is just one example of this program in action.

With an additional 20 trees to be planted as part of Round Three, Solitaire Court will soon host an avenue of 61 trees — that’s 77 per cent of residential blocks with trees.

Spokesperson for Parks and Open Spaces Councillor Carolyn Tillman said it was fantastic to see the program had been so successful.

“We know it hasn’t rained and despite Council’s continued watering efforts, plants are doing it tough, so we would really like to thank our residents for keeping the trees beautiful and healthy,” she said.

“Adopt a Street Tree is a great way of enhancing liveability and community participation, especially in places like Dalby’s Solitaire Court where it seems the trees have almost adopted the street!

“Solitaire Court residents have been working hard watering and mulching trees to keep them alive during this dry period, and the results have really paid off to create this wonderful avenue of trees.”

Resident Tony Nolan said it was fantastic to see so many people in Solitaire Court put their hands up to adopt Street Trees.

“If you’ve got one or two people take it up that’s still good, but because we’ve got so many in the street, it’s really going to look great in five or six years down the track.

“There’s nothing better than a green, leafy street!”
