The Annual Oakey Australia Day Celebration Returns For 2022

Australia Day plans are ramping up across the Darling Downs, and the endless fun at Arthur Shooter Park in Oakley is back for 2022!
Craig Commens, event co-ordinator for the Oakey Australia Day Event joined Lee to discuss what locals can expect at one of the premier shows in the country.
There'll be a barbeque breakfast bonanza, before the Oakey District Australia Day Awards Ceremony which celebrates the efforts of community leaders.
"Then 10 o'clock the fun starts," Commens explained.
From wheelie bin races to thong-throwing, there will be no shortage of amusement lined up for the community! Returning for its second year, the Australian Dunny Race titles along the Oakey Creek will cap off an enthralling day.
In a COVID-safe environment, the action begins from 7:30am with something for the whole family to get involved in.
