You'd think 32 goals would have you locked in for best on ground honours, but apparently not!

Hope Valley forward Darren Mitchell explained to Triple M's Rush Hour with Jars and Louie why he wasn't voted best on ground despite snagging 32 goals for his division C5 side.

DARREN MITCHELL EXPLAINS WHY HE WAS SNUBBED FROM BEST ON:

Jars wasn't a fan of the fact that Mitchell couldn't cop BOG honours after his whopping haul.

"The big issue is that our boy did not get the best player award at the club after the game," he said.

"Who was BOG?"

Mitchell said one of his teammates, Lachie Anderson, topped him.

"Lachie Anderson, he got BOG," he explained.

"(He's an) on-baller, half back flank."

Mitchell explained the "strict" rule his coach had that held him back.

"I'm not quite sure there! The coach has got a pretty strict rule about not giving forwards (votes), doesn't matter how many goals they kick!" he laughed.

"(My coach is) Scotty Dykstra! He comes up and plays forward pocket in a couple of games!"
