Freddie Fitler’s raft of changes ahead of State of Origin Game II in Perth has made the ears of many prick up after taking to the broom the squad that lost at Accor Stadium nearly a fortnight ago.

Brent Tate, a veteran of 23 Origins for the Maroons during the ‘eight-straight’ era, responded to Freddie’s fire sale this afternoon, telling Triple M’s Rush Hour with Leisel, Liam and Dobbo that the NSW’s clearing the decks was a curious decision, but he could see the merit in one of the moves.

“They’re definitely running off the Queensland blueprint”

Tate also had big wraps on young Bronco Selwyn Cobbo holding his spot on the wing alongside debutant Murray Taulagi, arguing that an experienced head wasn’t required, despite Corey Oates being named in the extended squad
