Australia's richest horse race could go ahed while the rest of Sydney is in lockdown.

Crisis cabinet is considering a plan to allow fifteen thousand people to flock to The Everest horse race next month, regardless of whether we've hit our vaccine target by then.

The Australian Turf Club has lodged an exemption for the race to go ahead on October 16 at Randwick for fully vaxxed guests.

The proposed 15,000-strong crowd would be three times bigger than the cap for outdoor sporting events under the state's freedom roadmap, which is at 5,000 guests.
