The Bureau of Meteorology are watching the LOW bring rainfall to the coastline between Bowen and Mackay today and tonight. Nitso from Oz Cyclone Chasers gives us the latest. 

 

 

Flood Warning for the Pioneer River

Issued at 4:58 pm EST on Tuesday 5 February 2019

Flood Warning Number: 2

Rainfall totals of up to 40mm have been recorded since 9am Tuesday, and rainfall is expected to continue into Wednesday across the Pioneer River catchment. River level rises are expected under the heaviest rainfalls.

The situation will be closely monitored and updates will be issued as required.

Pioneer River:

River level rises are likely overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday in the upper Pioneer River and in Cattle Creek.

River level information is not available from the Mirani manual site but river levels from the automatic Mirani Weir site are currently at about 5.0 metres and easing (below the minor flood level of 7.00 metres). River level rises are expected to continue into Tuesday as a result of forecast rainfall. The situation will be closely monitored and updates will be provided as required.

The Pioneer River at Mackay is currently at 3.15 metres and falling. Further river level rises are likely overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday as a result of forecast rainfall. The situation will be closely monitored and updates will be provided as required.
