Springvale Districts Football Netball club had set up a converted shipping container as a corporate section, with TVs showing racing and footy, and food and drink being served.

But the City of Greater Dandenong shut it down recently because there was no permit for it.

Springvale Districts’ secretary Joe joined the Hot Breakfast this morning and admitted that a permit had originally not been sought, but that it was soon to be redressed.

“We made a blue, we’re happy to admit that,” Joe said.

“Last year we did just put it there, it’s a temporary structure.

“We had a chat to the guys at Royal Wharf who built the container out for us for it, and I guess they just gave us the impression that they’ve never had to apply for a permit for a container before, so we were just under that impression… What we’ve done this year though, we’ve corrected it, we’ve put in — actually our president paid out of his own pocket — for a permit to the council to see if you need a planning permit, so there’s a permit to see if you need a permit.”

Joe said they wanted to sort it out ASAP.

“We would love for this to be sorted out,” Joe said.

“We’re already I guess behind the eight-ball this week, we’re gonna lose out about $1000 that would have been brought in from the Caulfield Bears footy club who had pre-booked it out.”

At this point, Eddie McGuire decided the Hot Breakfast would chuck in.

“I tell you what we’ll do mate, we’ll spring the thousand bucks to cover this week,” he said.

The Hot Breakfast also had a councillor from the City of Greater Dandenong on who was sympathetic to Springvale’s cause.
