The NBA's Best Point Guard Just Got Traded

Chris Paul will soon be unveiled as a Rocket after being dealt by the Los Angeles Clippers to Houston.

The 9-time All Star heads to Texas for Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, a future first round draft pick and other lesser known players.

The NBA world's been digesting the blockbuster trade but no one's really sure who gets the better end of the deal.

Perhaps a bigger question is whether Paul can share the back court with another superstar in James Harden, who'll likely shift over to shooting guard.

Widely considered the league's best pure point guard, Chris Paul just couldn't get past the Warriors with the Clippers.

His relationship with Clips' coach Doc Rivers had reportedly soured after the franchise acquired Doc's son Austin Rivers.

He'd reportedly been planning on declining the player option on his L.A. contract and was set on teaming up with James Harden in Houston.

So it was either lose CP3 to free agency and get nothing, or trade him and get something.

To allow the trade to go ahead, Paul opted in for the final year of his $31.7 million contract.

If all goes well with the Rockets, the trade also set him up for a major pay day after next season when he's eligible for a 5 year deal worth close to $270 million.

But on all the main statistical pointers, Paul is worth every cent.

Since joining the Clippers in 2011 he's made the All-NBA first team three times, the All-NBA second team twice and the All-Defensive first team six times.

He's averaged 18.7 points, 9.8 assists and 2.4 steals over the six season in L.A.

Paul clearly lost patience with L.A.'s inability to get past the second round of the play-offs despite stars like himself, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

The question now for the Clips is whether to renovate - or detonate.
