Mark next Friday 28th off your calendar, because the opening of the new Bowen Water Tank Mural is happening from 10am-12pm, and it's going to be a fun day out for the whole family!
Whitsunday Regional Council and Bowen Tourism & Business are inviting you to come along for a free sausage sizzle and face painting, while having the opportunity to view the water tanks and mural up close.
Over the last few months, Bowen residents and students have picked up a paint brush and added their own colourful designs to the base of the tanks.
We have been blown away by the enthusiasm shown by the locals for the new murals and I’d like to thank all those who got involved and helped paint... We are elated with the quality of the final outcome and I am confident the murals will become an iconic part of Bowen’s artistic heritage.
- Mayor Andrew Willcox
Chairman of Bowen Tourism and Business, Jonathan Freeman said that those who added to the mural truly demonstrated the diversity of Bowen, stating, "From our rich horticultural industry to our amazing natural environment, beautiful sea life and link to the past, the murals reflect exactly what our community values about our town".
