Rugby League Players Association CEO Ian Prendergast has revealed that the RLPA is working towards a new strategy that will help to protect not just players, but the game as well.

Prendergast joined The Rush Hour with MG on Tuesday evening to join the ongoing discussion as to how to deal with the NRL's horror off-season, confirming that he had reached out to some of the players involved in the recent scandals - including Dylan Napa.

And that, he says, is one step towards future-proofing the NRL.

"We are as disappointed as anyone," Prendergast admitted. "It ignores the fact that the game is on the right track.

"It's almost like we take four steps forward and then one step back."
