The Stroke Foundation is highlighting the results of a new national audit.
The audit has found that the inequality in access to best practice care and services for stroke patients is impacting regional areas the most.
That's despite the fact that those in regional areas are more likely to have a stroke currently in the Farrer electorate, there are over 4100 people living with stroke.
The new audit has found the inequality is still costing lives, and leading to unnecessary disability.
Sharon McGowen from the Foundation says as a country we're lagging behind.
