Animals will be feeling these extreme heat conditions just as much as us, so here's how to manage your pet in a heat wave, and what to do if they're struggling.

How to manage:
Restrict their exercise and walk them only in the early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler
Never leave them in a hot car or room
Ensure they have water and a shaded spot to spend time
Spray them down with cool water

Signs that your pet has heat stroke:
Racing heart
Glassy/fearful expression in their eyes
Heavy panting or excessive drooling
Their gums/tongue are red or purple
Vomiting
Their legs are collapsing or they are staggering when walking
High body temperature

How to manage your pet if they have these signs:
Move them to a cool spot
Offer small amounts of water
Cool them down with a wet towel
Contact your vet

Breeds of dogs that are less tolerant of heat:
Pugs
Bulldogs
Boston Terrier
Pekingese
Boxers
Shih Tzus
French Bulldogs
