Sports presenter Neroli Meadows says "there are plans" to get all Australians in the Indian Premier League out of India as the COVID-19 situation worsens in the country.

The IPL has been suspended as a result of the worsening COVID-19 conditions in India, where players and officials from multiple teams have now tested positive to the virus.

One of them is Mike Hussey, who is believed to have a "weak positive", while other players such as David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins all remain stuck in the country unable to return directly to Australia.

But Meadows says there's works to get the Australians to another country - such as the Maldives - in the interim.

"There are plans at the moment to get us all out," she told Molloy on Wednesday afternoon.

"It sounds like the Maldives is probably the most likely option at the moment, and that's probably where we'll end up until the ban is reassessed."
