It has recently been brought to our attention that there is a whole section of the internet dedicated to videos of things being power washed and it is totally and utterly mesmerising.
Millions of people have watched clips from YouTube channels like Power Washing World, whose content consists solely of outdoor furniture, trucks, patios and even vegetables being cleaned with high pressure hoses.
Not only that, but there's an entire sub-Reddit called r/Powerwashingporn, in which pressure washer enthusiasts can submit their own amateur attempts.
If you either a) don't get it or b) get it but are not quite sure why, it probably has something to do with Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), which "describes the experience of tingling sensations in the crown of the head, in response to a range of audio-visual triggers".
ASMR - which is "widely reported to be accompanied by feelings of relaxation and well-being" - is usually linked to videos of "whispering, tapping and hand movements", but cleaning videos have, incredibly, become insanely popular in recent months.
Whatever the reason, we've fallen down an absolutely rabbit hole and will more than likely be cracking out our pressure washers this weekend.
