There's Still A Million Dangerous Takata Airbags In Aussie Cars

Almost one million cars fitted with potentially deadly Takata airbags remain on Australian roads, a year after they were recalled.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said about 70 per cent of affected inflators - about 2.8 million - have been replaced nationally since manufacturers were put on notice in February 2018.
But there's still 900,000 vehicles, with more than a million airbags that still need replacement. Nearly 8,000 of those are the high-risk alpha airbags. Most are in NSW and Victoria.
"Despite good progress, both motorists and car manufacturers shouldn't become complacent," ACCC deputy chair Delia Rickard said in a statement.
"If you receive a letter or call from your car's manufacturer, don't delay or ignore it."
All airbags need to be replaced by December 2020.
