Footy’s back and the hours are slowly ticking down to until what we consider ‘normality’ returns.

Tonight, the Broncos, boosted by the return of prop Matt Lodge, will seek redemption for their now infamous defeat at the hands of the Eels in the last year’s Elimination Final at BankWest Stadium. A 58-0 drubbing in front of a sell-out crowd was only compounded by the revelations that numerous senior players had been out the night before until midnight playing the pokies. 

However, the undefeated outfit from Red Hill have said numerous times that they have moved on from last year’s disaster refreshed and revitalised with new faces and tonight as well as new leader; Alex Glenn running out tonight for the first time as captain. 

Speaking on The Big Breakfast this morning the assistant coach told listeners that his team "don’t need any extra motivation" to get up for tonight’s top-of-the-table clash.

Parker will not in fact be in the coaches’ box for the Broncos due to COVID-19 restrictions but the former Brisbane great will still be amongst the action with his role with Fox League. The 347-game former captain noting that rest period has actually benefited a lot of his players
