A man has died after being hit by a car in the Hunter Valley this morning.

He was struck on the New England Highway 5kms south of Aberdeen at around 4:40am.

Police say he suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene.

He's yet to be identified.

The female driver stopped and offered assistance.

She's undergone mandatory drug and urine testing.

It's the third death on the Hunter's roads since Sunday.

A 17 year old learner motorbike driver died in a crash on the M1 at Seahampton on Sunday, while a man in his 30's died after being hit by a truck on the Pacific Highway at Karuah.
