A thunderstorm warnings has been issued for Sydney, ahead of two days of wet weather. 

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, Central Tablelands and parts of the Mid North Coast, South Coast and Southern Tablelands districts.

A thunderstorm is set to roll in during this evening, with the rain to stick around until possibly Monday. 

After an almost 10-day heatwave in Sydney, Sunday's forecast will see the City only hit a top of 23C with showers throughout the day. 

Similar conditions in the West, reaching a top of 24C and also showers throughout the day. 

It reached a top of 38C early Saturday afternoon.
