The foster father of Tiahleigh Palmer will plead guilty to murder, his lawyers have told the Brisbane Supreme Court.

Tiahleigh's body was found in October 2015 on the banks of a river on the Gold Coast.

Rick Thorburn was committed to stand trial for the murder in July 2017.

His lawyer Jason Jacobson has told the court today that the pre-trial hearing slated for next month should be dismissed. His client has wished for a date to be sentenced.

Tiahleigh was missing for six days before her body was found.

Her death has sparked a major review of child safety systems and protocol for children who go missing from out-of-home care.

Mr Thorburn was charged in September 2016.
