Touring Australia including Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, Shepparton is the only regional location Sir Bob Geldof will be speaking.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said securing the event was a brilliant opportunity for the region to add the likes of Sir Geldof as a visitor.

“Ensuring residents have opportunities to witness leading industry professionals is very important for us in delivering entertainment and resources to Greater Shepparton,” Cr O’Keeffe said.

“We have had many talented speakers visit our city and Sir Bob Geldof and Ms Rao will provide a very unique experience discussing a range of international issues.”

Chair of GV BRaIN Fiona Johnson said they were very fortunate to secure an inspiring speaker to the region.

“Together with our sponsors we are excited to be a part of the special evening and work to continue to ensure the region has easy access to people of the calibre of Sir Bob Geldof,” Ms Johnson said.

“You do not have to be a fan of the Boomtown Rats to know you will not only have a great evening but also have your eyes opened and be challenged to make a positive difference.”

Following the success of the Shepp Square campaign last year, Greater Shepparton City Council was approached to be a part of the 2019 Australia tour by ICMI Speakers and Entertainers.

“In the past, events like this we’re held in larger regional cities such as Geelong so it is remarkable to see Greater Shepparton stepping out as a leading regional destination, suggests Mayor O’Keeffe.”

Entertainment on the night will also include a performance by former local musicians, Sam Ludeman of The Voice fame and Sam Russell.
