Tim McMahon Explains Why Cooby Dam Remains Closed

The Cooby Dam has been shut for several months, and it's disappointing not being able to head out on the water! 

The popular swimming and boating spot has been closed all through Summer, Councillor Tim McMahon joins the show to share why the unavailability has prolonged.

McMahon explained how the council had detected a bacterial outbreak last year, which has continued right through these holidays.

"The council scientist officers made the call to close the damn, and frustration levels are rocketing at that understandably so," McMahon said, citing weather conditions as the obvious problem.

He said what needs to change is a review of the health guidelines, in order to reopen and rid the damn of the "blue-green algae".
