North Queensland coach Todd Payten is playing his cards close to his chest but has made his plans clear that the club will be pursuing a ready-made replacement for Michael Morgan. 

Morgan, who was medically retired last week, opens up $2.5m in the club’s salary cap at the end of the year and coach has made it clear that he the club has a plan to fill the void.

Speaking on The Rush Hour Queenslander Payten told Dobbo that without naming names the Cowboys are confident of securing the services of their intended player.

“We have a plan and we know what type of half we want”

The Cowboys held on for a nervous first victory of the season on Sunday at Leichhardt Oval, Payten joked that that he was questioning the love of coaching when Tigers mounted a later comeback. North Queensland host the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
