Tom Browne On The Clubs That Went Hardest For Ben King Before He Re-Signed At Gold Coast

Tom Browne explained which clubs went hardest for Ben King before the gun key forward extended his Gold Coast contract.

"St Kilda were obviously the club that made the massive play for him," Browne said on the Tom Browne’s News Podcast.

"There’s no doubt in my mind the Suns money was upwards of $800,000 plus, and St Kilda would have been right around that mark in terms of the money."

But Browne said that two other Victorian clubs had a look at King with varying degrees of intensity.

"It came across my desk and it’s quite clear that Essendon, and to a lesser extent Collingwood… expressed fairly extensive interest in King around those contract negotiations," he said.

Browne also said that officially the AFL are not contributing to King’s contract.

Tom Browne also discussed controversy surrounding Luke Beveridge’s donation to charity, Richmond’s injury woes, and an update on Melbourne’s cancelled fireworks.
