Port Adelaide midfielder Tom Rockliff joined Roo & Ditts on Wednesday to speak on his decision to call time on his career.

The 208-game veteran revealed his retirement to the playing group, saying "I didn't sleep the night before".

"I got about five words out Ditts, and started welling up and crying."

Rockliff played nine seasons with Brisbane Lions before making the shift to South Australia,

The 31-year-old had been sidelined for the majority of the 2021 season having contracted blood clots, and cited the devastating health issue as the reason for the decision.

"We got them scanned, told you guys last week that the clot was still there. I'll have to continue for another two or three months, they said your clot can stay for up to 10 years."

"The risk factor is just too high."

Rocky added that he will stay involved with the club for as long as possible, but prioritising his health is of utmost importance.
