Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic will face-off for the first time ever on the Tennis court during this year's edition of the Kooyong Classic.

Kyrgios, who was a late entry for the injured Juan Martin Del Porto, will look to find some form ahead of the Australian Open against his one-time Doubles partner and Davis Cup teammate.

While there are no ranking points up for grabs at the 8-man tournament, director Peter Johnston is expecting a competitive tie between the two controversial stars.

"For both guys it’s their last competitive match before next week’s Australian Open, so their focus will be on making sure their games are ready," Johnston said.

"At the same time it will be fun for the fans to watch it play out given they have never gone head to head before."

The duo were supposed to met at last year's French Open during the first round, however, Kyrgios was forced to withdraw due to injury.

The event begins this Tuesday yet organisers haven't released when Kyrgios and Tomic will clash.
