Toowoomba horse trainer Ben Currie won't be at the track this weekend after Racing Queensland finally invoked a rarely used rule to refuse his nominations, this comes after weeks of speculation.

Currie will not be allowed to race horses in Gatton or on the Sunshine Coast tomorrow and if he had plans for racing on the Gold Coast on Saturday, they too have been quashed.

The racing authority is not obligated to give reasons for their refusal but their decision follows pressure from Queensland Racing Minister Stirling Hinchcliff, in a bid to protect the integrity of the industry.

Currie has been operating under a ‘stay of proceedings’ with charges dating back more than 12 months hanging over his career including 2 allegations of using the ‘jigger’.

A statement Racing Queensland says the move isn’t a presumption of guilt over the charges made by the Racing Integrity Commission.
