Toowoomba’s Queen’s Park is a must see destination for locals and tourists alike, and keeping us coming back more Toowoomba Regional Council will today commence construction of a $2.4 million upgrade to facilities as Stage 5 of the Queens Park masterplan improvement continues.

The works will include installation of new play items for the Margaret Street playground, landscaping and access improvements to the Margaret Street frontage, park lighting, additional pathway works and installation of new playground items at Lindsay Street playground.

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Parks and Recreation Services portfolio leader Cr Joe Ramia said the upgrades to Margaret Street and Lindsay Street playground would increase the variety of play equipment on offer.

“One of the most exciting features of these works will be the installation of a large Pentaboo in the Margaret Street playground.

“The Pentaboo is a unique 7 metre high playhouse with a spiral slide and a climbing rope based pyramid.

“During installation of the pentaboo playground, a section of the Margaret Street playground will be closed, while works are being undertaken; however the Lindsay Street playground will remain open for use, Cr Ramia said.

“Council intend that weather permitting, the upgrades to both playgrounds will be finished in time for December school holidays”, Cr Ramia said.

“In November 2017 Toowoomba Regional Council received State Government funding of $1.288 million to assist with construction of the Stage 5 project works through the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.
