A Total Fire Ban (TFB) has been declared for the Mallee, Wimmera and Northern Country for Friday 7 December 2018.
Today's conditions in the Mallee, Wimmera and Northern Country will be extreme with temperatures reaching the low 40s.
CFA State Duty Officer Peter Lucas said the declaration of a TFB and yesterday’s fires in Buninyong are a reminder for all Victorians to have their fire plans ready and not be complacent during summer.
“The hot and dry conditions will make it difficult for firefighters to suppress a fire should one start, therefore we are asking people to take heed of the Total Fire Ban conditions,” Mr Lucas said.
“People need to be aware of the increased fire danger and ensure your fire plan covers all possible contingencies. We’ve seen major bushfires in Buninyong, and Friday is predicted to be hotter and dryer.”
TFBs mean no fire can be lit in the open air or allowed to remain alight from 12.01am to 11.59pm on the day of the Total Fire Ban.
