A total fire ban has been issued for Brisbane residents as firefighters continue to battle over 100 fires across the state.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services extended the ban to includes areas like; Moreton Bay Regional Council, Brisbane City Council and Redland City Council.

The ban will remain in place until midnight Wednesday December 5. 

This comes ahead of a scorching day across the state with temperatures expected in the mid-30's in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

While some regional parts of Queensland, including Roma and Longreach could hit 45C. 

The fires have caused one fatality, with a 21-year-old man from the Central Highlands lost his life when he became trapped after a tree fell on him.
