The angry mob of protesters who caused absolute chaos on Melbourne's streets yesterday have vowed they will keep doing it "every day" until their demands are met.

Yesterday marked the second day of public demonstrations against the Covid-19 vaccination mandates and the two-week shut down of the construction industry, due to Covid-19 spreading risks.

The crowd of thousands moved from Melbourne’s CBD on to the West Gate Bridge where they congregated, causing traffic gridlock.

Some members even damaged cars and pelted projectiles at police. As violence increased, law enforcement officers were forced to respond with tear gas and rubber bullets.

Shocking footage of the violence has been shared all over social media.

Premier Daniel Andrews called the demonstrations “appalling”, issuing a stern warning to the protesters.

“Victoria Police will take action against those who did the wrong thing yesterday. There were some people there who you would say were from the building industry. There were others who were not from the building industry. They’re not there to protest, they’re there for a fight,” he said.

Chief Commissioner Shayne Patton has urged anyone thinking of partaking in further protests to think again.

“Stay away. We will be out in force again, I assure you of that. I’m not going to disclose what our tactics will be tomorrow but they will be different. Please I implore you, do not do this, do not come into the city. It achieves nothing," he said.

So far, three police officers have been injured as well as Seven News Reporter Paul Dowsley. Sixty-two people have been arrested.
