The sun is shining on our city since the monster monsoon, but that doesn't mean everything is rosy.

It seems some tradies are taking advantage of the flood clean up situation, but that's about to get bucked.

Queensland Building and Construction Commission inspectors will hit Townsville streets this week to tick and flick tradies to make sure unlicensed builders are punished.

The inspectors will be travelling in from across the state (Cairns, Mackay, and Brissy) to make sure all tradies are above board, while inspecting their workmanship in building and plumbing work.

These compliance checks occur on a regular basis across Queensland, but given the scare of fake tradies and scammers, areas of Townsville that have been flood impacted have become a priority.

If caught out, tradies not meeting compliance will be facing hefty fines of up to 45K!

What do you think their punishment should be? Tell us on Facebook!
